      Ok the function we learn polysemy, In language learning, polysemy itself isn't the issue.  in the fact that the meanings and functions of any given word in one language only partially overlap the meanings and functions of the proposed equivalent word in the other language.  For many reasons, many learners don't understand this fact, cannot accept it, or do not approach language study with this essential fact in mind.

      Polysemy refers to a single word having multiple meanings.

      Homonymy refers to two unrelated words that happen to sound the same, like bear and bare.

  3. Nice explanation. Like you tell us before that the reason why we learn polysemy is easier to know what the meanings of a word in order there is no ambiguity when we are talking. Are there any advantages that we will grab by learn polysemy?

      Thanks for your question ☺ the different about polysemy and ambiguity is :
      Polysemy" refers to the fact that an individual word can have more than one meaning. Lots of words are polysemous. Which of the multiple meanings is intended usually clear from the context.

      "Ambiguity" is not at the word level, but at the sentence level. It means that a sentence can be interpreted in more than one way. This can result from polysemy: more than one of a word's meanings would make sense in the context.

    1. I will try to answer question siska☺ in our daily life sometimes we use polysemy this example :
      She walks the tower (to haunt a place as a ghost).
      The workers threatened to walk(to go on strike).
      Walk with God! (to live your life in a particular way)

      metoymy means using a substitute of a regular word with nearly similar meaning(ex : the king or the crown!)

      polysemy means using the same word for different meanings (ex: bank (river and institution))

      Semy : meaning
      So polysemy is the same word which has many related meaning. And i will give the example for you :
      1. He went to the bank to deposit some money.
      2. We climbed the river bank.
      Bank is polysemy in the first example bank is business offering financial. And the second example bank is steep sidr of river. Ok i think just it my explaination, i hope you understand now ☺😊

      we know hyperbole is the use of obvious and deliberate exaggeration.

      Polysemy is the same word which has many related meaning, i hope you understand now anisa ☺

      1.The house is at the foot oe mountains.

      2.One of her shoes felt too tight for his foot.
      " foot" un here is polusemy in the first sentence refer to bottom part of the mountain. And the second examole the bottom part of the leg. Ok i hope you understand with my example ☺😊
